While from the outside this home appears to have a very traditional style, it has many contemporary features.  We had a geothermal heat system installed, which not only heats and cools this home much like any other, but also gives this home the added feature of heated floors.  In addition, unlike most older, more traditional homes, this has a fairly open floorplan.  The kitchen, shown here, is open to the living space next to it instead of being closed off.

The kitchen cabinets are pre-made maple cabinets.  The island is wrapped in bead board that was stained the same as the corner cabinet which houses the double ovens.  We custom made the vent hood in the photograph below.  It is textured plaster with wood trim to match the cabinets.  We had granite countertops installed, and also installed ample recessed can lighting and under-cabinet lighting.

The butler's pantry, shown to the right, is located just off of the kitchen.  We continued the same cabinetry, tile flooring, and granite into this room.

These are pictures of the interior taken in winter 2007.  Below to the left shows where the fireplace will one day be, and below to the right is the stairwell.

And here is a photo showing both spaces together, complete.  The fireplace stone is the same as was used on the exterior.  The stairway was made out of oak and all of the windows in the home were cased in matching wood.  The floor here is also a great match, along with the baseboard and the mantle.

One unique element of this home is the extra shower shown here, a perfect feature for any dog lover.  We installed this tiled dog shower in the utility room.

The basement of this home is partially finished.  The cabinetry shown here is a custom made coat rack for use by the family.  The cement in the finished area has been naturally stamped with leaves and stained to highlight nature's beauty.
