Guest Bath and Powder Bath

We updated this bathroom in this nearly 100-year-old house.  We took out one of the three doors, installed a new sink, shower, toilet, and tile floor, as well as the new built-in cabinet.  As you can see, we saved and highlighted the original radiator.  The medicine cabinet is also the original.

As you'll notice, the tile design in the shower mimics the tile design on the floor.  We installed new bead board on the walls.  All the other woods (doors, trim) is the original wood from the home.

Here you can see pictures of the vanity and the new cabinet we installed to give this bathroom some storage space.  The vanity is an elegant china pedestal with a matching shelf.  The built-in makes up for the space that could have been added below the sink if it had sat in a vanity cupboard and actually adds a lot more storage to the bathroom.

We also installed antique, period wall sconces, switched separately from the main overhead light.  And though it's not visible, there is a light and a fan in the ceiling above the shower, as well.

This is the pedestal sink from the powder bathroom, downstairs in the same house.  As you can see, there are slight variations between the two sinks, but they still match and help maintain consistency throughout the house.  The floor also ties into the guest bath, being black and white tile, though again there are differences.  And again, we continued the use of the bead board, but instead of being painted white we applied a color wash to it to give it a distressed look.  This is actually the same type of medicine cabinet as you can see from the guest bath, original to the house.
