American Foursquare Renovation with Arts and Crafts style design

Master Suite

This is the master bedroom in this house.  We added a sympathetic addition to the back of the house and added a large master bath.

This is a picture of the walk-in closet that we added to replace the small closet we removed.

In the pictures of the master bath addition below you can see an example of the tile work we can offer.  The distinctive bands of darker tile wrap around all of the walls, from the commode, behind the vanity, around the tub, and throughout the shower.

There are many notable touches in this picture.  This medicine cabinet is an exact match to the original cabinets found elsewhere in the house.  A color wash has been applied to the walls to help suggest the appearance of plaster walls, which the house had originally.  The windows that have been installed in the back wall (which you see to the left in this picture) have been matched to the original windows in the rest of the house.

Note the tile work in the vertical line at the end of the half wall.  It accentuates the idea of the break between the commode area and the rest of the bathroom.

These two pictures highlight the work we did in the shower.  We continued the pattern of the long, dark tiles, repeating it at the appropriate interval high on the wall.  The shower has two shelves installed in the walls.  You can see one in the picture on the left.  In the picture on the right, you see the corner bench we install, which also mimics the dark-tiled design found elsewhere in the bathroom.  Note the tile on the floor, as well.  Showers have to have a slight slope leading towards the drain to help get rid of water, and the tile has to be installed along the slope without danger of cracking.  Cutting the tiles at a diagonal to the corners accomplishes that and adds decoration to the area.

Here you see the jacuzzi bathtub we installed in this addition.  Again, the tile design is continued through this area of the bathroom.  The windows have been matched to the originals in the rest of the house.

This is the fan installed in the master bathroom.  You can see all the angles of the ceiling design by Jim Manning at Manning & Associates.  Instead of a flat ceiling, we created a vaulted ceiling and added this shelf, with a matching one across the room.  Though it is not visible in this picture, there is soft lighting up on the shelf in addition to the fan light.
