1920s Remodel

We almost started from scratch with this remodel.  What you see below used to be a stucco exterior.  However, once we got into the project, we discovered that the stucco could not be saved, so we installed shingle-style siding on the second story in the front with a beautiful stone veneer on the first story in the front and on the garage.  We installed vinyl siding everywhere else on the house.  The flower boxes in front of the windows are original to the house.

The front of the house was an addition from a previous era.  We had to remove the foundation for the addition and install new.  We updated the entrance with a new fiberglass front door and fresh paint, plus we installed new ceramic tile in the foyer, as seen below.

We re-designed the previous addition a little bit and designated the area you see below to the left to be a front sitting room.  There is a shelf perfect for a flat-panel TV.  The room attached to the foyer boasts a beautiful tiled fireplace.  There is room there for a loveseat and some bookcases: perfect for a small library!  Walk through the foyer and you are at the staircase leading upstairs, or take a right from the front door and enter the kitchen, which leads back to the new addition.

Below you can see the updated kitchen.  We installed new cabinets with Corian countertops in the color Maui.  The island has an overhang on two sides which can easily seat four people, taking the place of a breakfast table. There are new pendant lights hanging above the island to highlight the area. Below to the right, you can better see the illumination provided by the undercabinet lights.  Far below is a close up of the built-in Corian sink, with a nice high-arc, spray-nozzle faucet.
