About Bassi Construction
Bassi Construction is located in Lincoln, Illinois in the Lincoln Courthouse Square Historic District. The office is housed in the restored Lauer Brothers building on Sangamon Street, two blocks west of the square. Bassi Construction offers a variety of services, from beautiful new home construction to accurate preservation of historic homes and buildings, and everything in between.
Dale Bassi, owner and operating general contractor, has been in the construction business for over twenty-five years. He opened the original Bassi Construction in Wenona, Illinois soon after graduating from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign with a bachelor's degree in history. After operating the business for about ten years, he took a break from construction but found that he couldn't ignore his interest or skills. He reopened in Lincoln, Illinois in 1995.
While he
enjoys building new structures and remodeling existing homes, his main
interest remains in history, particularly historic preservation. Dale
has been active in Main Street
Lincoln, serving two terms on the board, one term as Board President, and serving
as the design committee chair for several years. He is currently chairman of
a bicycle advocacy group. He is an avid golfer, enjoys bicycling and bocce ball, and takes great pleasure in building furniture for his children and grandchildren.
Terry Allen is a veteran to the construction site with well over 20 years of crew experience. He has been an asset to Bassi Construction since 2000, bringing with him a variety of skills in carpentry and other related trades – electrical, plumbing, roofing, drywall finishing, siding, windows - you name it. Terry was born and raised in Lincoln. He is a resourceful person, an avid recycler, and loves tinkering around with cars. He and his wife of 24 years, Ruby, love sharing late night and weekend Harley rides.
Originally
from Kansas, David Taylor got his start in the trades right out of high school
as a protégé of Bassi Construction and has become our longest standing
employee. After 10 years with the company David has proven himself time and
again as an excellent finish carpenter. When not on the job, David enjoys
woodworking at home and reading a good book. He also serves the Lincoln
community as the puppet team director at Lincoln Bible Church. While Bassi
Construction employees may not always function as puppets, David’s leadership
skill has earned him the role of foreman on many jobsites.
After spending 8 years as a student of the
liberal arts, intercultural studies, and religious studies, Chris Elam was ready
for something less cerebral and more hands-on. Now with Bassi Construction for
nearly 4 years, Chris lives with his wife, Emily, and their dog, Mayer, and
specializes in decorative tile work. Chris is a preservationist at heart as the
design committee chairman at Main Street Lincoln and is eager to see the
“greening” of residential construction. In his free time, Chris stays busy with
multiple home projects, but tries to balance life with climbing trips, bicycle
adventures and good movies, all with a cup of coffee in hand, of course.
