Log Cabin
The cabin, now completed, boasts some great interior features as well. Here is the loft, directly above the kitchen.
The kitchen is completely modern,
with all the amenities desired by the modern chef. Note the log railings
that were installed inside
along
the loft. Much of the trim in the house follows the same theme, though in
the kitchen, smooth hickory cabinets were installed. However, the trim around
the doors and windows is largely rough cedar that matches the log cabin
exterior.
This railing,
leading upstairs from the kitchen, continues around to form the railing shown on
the far right.
The pine planks that make the ceiling are both attractive and they help pull together
the look of the cedar log siding and the smoother kitchen cabinets.
Below you can see the stone chimney from the inside of the house. It makes a beautiful focal point in the living room.
Part of the appeal of having a
log cabin out in the country is to feel close to nature.
This wall of windows does just that, opening the house up to the view.
The bathroom has a glass block
shower, in keeping with idea of letting natural light play a large part in the
house. Plus, the tile, used on the floor, shower walls, and halfway up the
bathroom walls, is light in color and looks neutral and natural. It
doesn't demand attention, but accents the bathroom and allows the eye to focus
on glass shower wall.
Kitchen cabinetry manufactured by Schrock. Railing by Meadow Valley Log Homes.
