Loft

Dale built this lower bed first for Alex, his oldest grandchild, when he turned three.  Dale and his daughter, Bailey, designed the bed to echo the Arts and Crafts style which Dale prefers.  It is made of oak and enhanced with a golden oak stain.

Three years later, Alex's little brother, Ryan, turned three, and Dale built another bed to match Alex's bed.  We turned Alex's bed and installed Ryan's bed above it, as you can see in these pictures.  Ryan's bed was made with the same plans as Alex's so that it would match, but it was made in a loft style.

Dale added all of the common features that a parent would want in a loft bed for their three-year-old.  Here you see the safety bar to keep Ryan from rolling out in his sleep.  Below that is the beautiful ladder built for access to the upper bunk.

The loft bed is not just a beautiful piece of furniture.  It is also very functional and a great space-saver.  Dale's son was able to put the dresser in the loft area, opening up more space in the room.
